Specifying a security
After logging in you will be presented with the Get Quote page. You can specify a symbol or another security identifier for a security you want to view by entering it in the input field, or you can search for the security if you do not know any of it's identifiers.

If you have entered a valid security identifier you will then be presented with the security's Quote Montage page.
Each security has up to three identifiers. These are: Symbol, CUSIP and Pink Sheets unique ID.
- Symbols are usually issued by stock exchanges and are the most common and easiest to remember identifiers. They are 1 to 5 character long. Some securities also have a Symbol Suffix to identify a specific issue of the security. Symbol Suffixes are specified with the Symbol following a period ".". For example, preferred shares for ACD company could be identified as "ABC.PR", as "PR" stands for preferred stocks.
- CUSIP is an identifier that is often used for settlement. Each security has an unique CUSIP identifier. A CUSIP is a 9 character log string of digits and sometimes alphanumeric characters.
- NQB ID is a unique numerical identifier
used within the EQS system. It is guaranteed that if a security
does not have a Symbol nor a CUSIP that it will have a NQB ID
If you do not know any of the security's identifiers you can search for it by its name. You only need to specify the first few characters of the name or any of it's identifiers. You can type the search string into the search input box of the Get Quote page or in the symbol lookup field on the left hand bar of the Quote Montage or Quote History pages. For example, searching for "Boston" will return among others these securities which all fulfill the search criteria.

- Security and available identifiers;

The Montage is divided into two sides, the Bid side (first 4 columns) and the Ask side (last 4 columns). Both sides show the following columns: the Market Maker who is quoting, the Bid prices, the Bid and Ask Size the Market Maker is asking to buy or sell and the Time of last update to the Quote.
The left side orders quotes by the bid prices, the best bid is at the top. The right side orders quotes by the ask price. The size indicates the maximum amount of shares the market maker is willing to buy or sell at the price quoted.
Below the security's name is the current inside price. This is the best price for both sides of the market, i.e. the Bid and the Ask separated by a slash "/". The size on the inside is shown within brackets separated by a "x".
The order of Quotes on the Montage is:
- open or closed status of Market Maker (Quote by open Market Makers above all Quotes by closed Market makers)
- price (best price at the top)
- size (highest volume within the same price higher in the list)
- time (oldest time of update of Quotes with identical price and size higher in the list)
Market Makers who are closed have a small "c" in front of their Market Maker ID. When a Market Maker is closed it means that they have not opened their books and they do not have to honor their Quotes. Closed Market Maker Quote's do not affect the inside Quote and are always shown at the bottom of the Montage list.
Market Makers that are quoting unsolicited have a small "u" after their Market Maker ID.
Clicking on a Market Maker ID on the Montage brings up detailed information about the Market Maker, as explained above.
